Herod

Matthew 2:1-12

Yet in thy dark streets shineth 

The Everlasting Light

The hopes and fears of all the years

Are met in thee tonight.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

Even in the midst of our hopes and fears right now, God’s love for us is .

  • In the sermon, we talked about some of the history that led to Herod’s rule. What was something you found interesting about that?
  • How does Herod respond to the birth of Jesus?
  • How do you see our sermon series theme of Unstoppable Christmas apparent in the narrative of Herod?

  • What are some of the hopes and fears that you are experiencing currently?
  • How does the birth of Jesus meet all your hopes and fears?
  • How have you experienced the unstoppable love of Jesus?
