Fighting Fairly

Matthew 18:15-20

The goal of fighting is to with each other.

Restore = 

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

We fight fairly and restore relationship:

1)   (v. 15)

  • Spiritually
  • Gently (Galatians 6:1)
  • Truthfully and Lovingly (Ephesians 4:15)

  • Read Matthew 18:15-20. What does it mean to “gain your brother” (v. 15) and “agree” (v. 19)?
  • What do you think it means to treat an unrepentant Christian as a “Gentile and tax collector” (v. 17)?
  • What authority does verse 18 give you as a Christian in the family of God?

  • Share about a time when you fought fairly or didn’t fight fairly. How did it feel?
  • For you, what is the most difficult part of confronting conflict like Jesus is describing in this passage?
  • What help do you need from others in your church family to live faithfully in order to build up the family of God?

  • Considering this message series, what next step will you take toward building a family?
