DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Head

• Martin Luther said “A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none. A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject of all, subject to all.” How would you describe Christian freedom in your own words? What are some matters of Christian freedom we experience and wrestle with today?
• Gal 5:13 tells us not to use our freedom for “opportunities of the flesh”. What do you think that means?
• Gal 5:16 tells us to “walk by the Spirit”. Work together as a group to describe how we might identify this in our own lives.

• Think back to some of the matters of Christian freedom we shared to start our time together. Which are some that you wrestle and struggle with? How are those matters impacting you? How are they impacting others?
• Gal 5:23 describes the fruit of living in the Spirit. Share stories about how you have experienced these with others in your group.

• As you look ahead to the next week of life…
  • What is something you need to do to guard your heart and mind against opportunities of the flesh?
  • What is a matter of Christian freedom you want to reconsider your current stance on?
  • What is one way you want to trust the Spirit in your life?
