Luke 18:18-34 – Jesus & the Rich Ruler

“What must  to inherit eternal life?”

  “What so I could inherit eternal life?”

    “One thing you still lack. and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and .”  

“What is with man, is with God.”

Discussion Questions

Head 

  •  Read Luke 18:18-34. What stands out to you from this passage?
  •  What are some examples you have seen or heard from the world that attempt to answer the question, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?
  • What are some modern day examples of idols or false gods that people look to in life?

Heart

  • Jesus asked the rich ruler to remove his focus on money from the center of his life. If Jesus were to ask the same of you, what things would need rearranging?
  • Have you ever experienced a time in your life when Jesus was not at the center? Share about that. And how does that experience compare to a time when Jesus was at the center of your life?
  • Have you ever experienced something that you thought was impossible, and yet because of God it was not?

Hands

  • What are some tangible ways for you to “come and follow Jesus” in your everyday life?
  • Removing idols from one’s life is hard and messy work. Who is someone that you trust to walk alongside you in this process?
  • Who is someone that God is bringing to your mind that does not know or believe in Jesus? In what ways can you be a blessing to that person and love them how God loves them?
