Peace, I Leave With You – Part 4

1 Samuel 25:1-35

Colossians 1:15-20

You can show you care about others by being part of the solution.

Be

Abigail wasted no time. (1 Samuel 25:18, NLT)

Act

When Abigail saw David, she quickly got off her donkey and bowed down before David with her face to the ground.     (1 Samuel 25:23, NIV)

Ask

Please forgive me if I have offended you in any way. (1 Samuel 25:28a, NLT)

Remember

But God is at work in my master… (1 Samuel 25:28b, The Message)

Consider beyond .

Don’t let this be a blemish on your record. Then your conscience won’t have to bear the staggering burden of   needless bloodshed and vengeance. (1 Samuel 25:31, NLT)

Through him (Jesus), God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth   by means of Christ’s blood on the cross (Colossians 1:20, NLT)

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Head

  • Read 1 Samuel 25:1-35. How do you see Abigail bringing peace by interceding for Nabal?
  • If you were Abigail, how would you have responded?
  • Who is your “Abigail” – someone who has been part of bringing a peaceful solution into your life? Share a story about how they became “your Abigail”.

Heart

  • When you get angry, do you usually hide and let it rage inside; let it seep out slowly before you explode; or spontaneously combust? How would others around you say you act when you get angry?
  • What can you learn from this story about being part of bringing peaceful solutions to your tense and conflicted situations and conversations?
  • Read Colossians 1:19-20. How do these verses convict or challenge your heart to both receive Jesus’ Easter peace and give it away as a solution?

Hands

  • What part do you need to play in bringing God’s peaceful solution to a situation with somebody this week?
  • How will you do this and how can your group (or someone else) ask you about it the next time you get together or talk?
