Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday – Latin mandatum = mandate, commandment

  • A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. (Jn 13:34)

Jesus is for you.

  • And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. (Col 1:21-23).

God shows his grace or way to us tangibly in 3 ways.

In the midst of…

3 questions everyone asks

In the midst of…   Jesus is present and gives of himself for you.

Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Mt 26:26-28)

He is present and gives of himself for you.

Who am I? Jesus makes us enough.

Where do I fit? Jesus is with us together.

What is my purpose? We are part of God’s unfolding story.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (Jn 13:35)

He is with and for you and calls you to be with and for one another so that the world may know Him.

We are with and for one another when we share that…

    • Jesus makes us enough.
    • Jesus is with us together.
    • We are part of God’s unfolding story.
