Part 5: The Impartation – “Charged to Continue” (Luke 22–24)
The focus of this section is the transition from being taught by Jesus to being entrusted by Jesus. In these chapters, the disciples move from observers to witnesses, from learners to leaders, and from followers to carriers of the Gospel message.
THE TRANSITION FROM LEARNING TO LEADING
Luke 22–24 highlights three pivotal moments that equip the disciples to continue Christ’s mission:
- They Were Strengthened for Faithfulness
- Revelation Revealed Through Relationship
- Empowered Impartation for Mission
Life Application
Growth in Christ is never meant to stop at receiving. God teaches us so that we can lead, serve, disciple, and strengthen others. Every season of testing, revelation, and empowerment prepares us for greater responsibility in the Kingdom.

STRENGTHENED FOR FAITHFULNESS: Jesus Prays for Peter (Luke 22:31-34)

“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

Peter’s confidence failed, but Christ’s intercession preserved him. This reminds us that weakness does not automatically mean defeat. God’s grace sustains us even in moments where our emotions, courage, or consistency are shaken.
Life Application
There will be seasons where your faith feels stretched by pressure, disappointment, or spiritual warfare. Do not allow temporary weakness to convince you that God has abandoned you. The same Jesus who prayed for Peter is still interceding for believers today.

2. INTERCESSION STRENGTHENS DISCIPLES
James 5:16 NKJV
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Prayer is one of the greatest ways believers strengthen one another. Intercession is a spiritual partnership. Sometimes people survive difficult seasons because someone refused to stop praying for them.

Never underestimate the power of praying for your family, church, friends, or leaders. Your prayers may become the very thing that helps someone endure spiritual attack or emotional exhaustion.

RESTORATION LEADS TO RESPONSIBILITY

“Therefore, He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Peter’s restoration was not merely for his healing—it was for his future assignment. God restores people so they can strengthen others with the lessons learned through failure and grace.

Your mistakes do not disqualify you from purpose when you truly repent and return to God. God can use restored people to reach broken people.

REVELATION REVEALED THROUGH RELATIONSHIP: THE ROAD TO EMMAUS (LUKE 24:13-35)
Luke 24:31 NKJV
“And their eyes were opened, and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.”
This passage teaches that:
1. JESUS MEETS US IN OUR CONFUSION
The disciples on the road were discouraged and confused after the crucifixion. Yet Jesus walked with them before they even recognized Him. God often reveals Himself in moments where we feel uncertain, disappointed, or spiritually lost.
