A Better Me Pt.3
I Have to Stop Putting This Off
Psalm 30:1-5
Goal:
At the end of the session:
- You will understand how critical grieving losses are in your healing process.
- You have a tool that will help to determine where you, or the one you are ministering to, are in the grieving process.
What Does the Bible have to say?
Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[a] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Grieving: We Stay in Pain & Never turn the Page
Grieving signifies pain of the spirit, soul, and body; grieving is a time to embrace sorrow and loss.

Grieving is a normal process following a loss and is not a sign of weakness. Grieving should not be done alone; everyone needs comfort from a close friend, a pastor, or a counselor as they go through the grieving process.

We will look at the grieving process that is applied when grieving losses, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or other broken relationships. These stages can also be applied when grieving losses due to legitimate unmet needs. I have to stop putting this off.
What are some things that you can identify that you are grieving or still grieving?

Procrastination: is putting off intentionally the doing of something that should be done, it’s a bad habit putting off until the day after tomorrow which should be done the day before yesterday.

I Have to Break the Cycle (there is no beginning & there is no end)
Stages of Grieving (Let’s get it over with; the sooner I get hurt, the quicker I can recover. Weeping may endure for a night
NOTES:
There are nine stages of grieving. A person who is grieving a loss will need to go through all of the following stages. The stages take you into a valley; the key is to keep walking through the valley and not stop. A person can get stuck at any stage and remain there, even for years.

When you do not have the opportunity to grieve losses, they will begin to pile up, one on top of the other. Instead of processing each loss as it comes, piling them up will cause depression, hopelessness and despair, and may even lead to mental and physical problems. In this state, even small losses will seem monumental. This is why it is vitally important to deal with and grieve each loss as it occurs.
