Minding My Mental Health Pt. 1 Confronting Silent Killers
Exodus 23:22
There are three things that I want to share that I want you to evaluate and to think about yourself because I believe these things are silent killers to your growth and mental health. I say silent killers because oftentimes Kingdom believers don’t do the work to realize that this is the root of their mental blockage or wall.
The first Silent Killer that I want you to be aware of is:
- Rejection

- Things that have happened whether it was from your childhood, from the days of living in your present adulthood, or even in your years of leading right there is a root
- We have to pull at that root

- We have to tug at that root

- Dig that thing up

- If not it is still there
- Rejection oftentimes causes us to overthink things that are happening to feel like something is happening that really isn’t
- It could’ve been seeds that were planted in you when you shared your thoughts or mind and people didn’t understand. List those things

- Or You shared your vision or heart and no one came alongside of you for that moment. List those things

- It could have been a failure or something you feel like you failed at before and now you’re like Oh my God I don’t know if I can do this again because that fear of failure is still there. All of these things. List those things

- If there’s anything in your life that has made you feel rejected or lack of acceptance you want to make sure that you dig for those things because they can become silent killers of your mental health. The 2nd thing that can become a silent killer in your mental health is:
- Reactions

- We have natural reactions that are often rooted in how we’ve experienced things in the past or you know how we normally deal with things. Our reactions come as a result of our natural life experiences
- Ex. If we saw other people yelling normally we’re going to yell as a reaction
- if we saw other people shutting down we were made to shut down then normally we’re going to shut down as a reaction
- So I want you to think about the reactions that you have when things are happening as your building manifestation, when you’re in the alley when you’re working with people when things happen in your life,
- What are your reactions?

- How do you react to those things?

- If you are reacting by using negative language and negative words then that’s exactly what you’re going to see be made manifest or come to fruition in your life
- You’re going to see those things happen if you’re responding out of anger or out of hurt or you know if you’re bleeding you know on your people your relationships, the family or team in your life that God has called you to serve and those reactions are going to show up in the areas of your life when you are building and if you haven’t learned to react calmly, that is appropriate, for the situation that is calculated because God has called you, that is prayerful, you’re going to see a hold you back.
- I want you to ask yourself how I normally react when things are well?

- How do I normally react when things aren’t so good?

- How do I react when people make a mistake?

- How do I react when there is drama or trauma?

- How do I react in various testing situations in my life?

- I guarantee you, you can often ask the people closest to you and they’ll tell you what they have seen as your patterns and cycles. The last thing will be exposed if you have not done the proper work and that is:
- Reflect

- Reflection or the lack thereof if you have a a lack of reflection then you’re missing keen opportunities to see what you can do better, you’re missing out on opportunities to see how you respond to something or how you reacted. You’re missing out on an opportunity to see if the rejection is indeed impacting you. You’re missing opportunities to gain feedback and knowledge from others about how you act, how you respond, how you show up, and what could be better..
- Reflecting is necessary so that you can have a clear insight and maybe even foresight on where God is taking you and what is working and what is not working
- Another thing that reflection does is that it allows you to create a list of or develop instructions what things to change for yourself
- The last thing that reflection does it give you the ability to reflect on how you are received or perceived. Some people receive and perceive us in different ways based on what you have on how we present ourselves and how we even show up with the look on our faces.

- So I want you to know that it’s so important to understand these things as a silent killer because if you aren’t reflecting then other people could be rejecting what you are doing what you are saying in how you’re showing up. After all, you haven’t reflected on yourself and your own patterns and habits. I want you to know that the work is necessary the work is fulfilling and it is healing at the same time.
