Understanding the Anointing
2 Corinthians 5: 17-21
Defining the Anointing: The anointing is the operation of the Holy Spirit within man.
The Function of the Anointing: The Anointing gives us everything we need to progress through life and gives access to God’s divine wisdom. Wisdom begins with the fear of God. The Holy Spirit carries the thoughts of the Head to all the members. He illuminates the mind of the believer to understand and apply God’s truth, as well as to detect deception. As members of the Body of Christ, we have to yield to the authority of the Holy Spirit. When we yield to the authority of the Holy Spirit, we are yielding to the Head. When we grieve the Spirit, we frustrate our relationship with the Head. We hold the Head by simply yielding to the Spirit.
The Anointing of God needs the faith of God to flow.

- Definition of Authority: Greek word is exousia, which means “delegated influence, authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength”
- Luke 10:19 Listen carefully: I have given you authority [that you now possess] to tread on [a]serpents and scorpions, and [the ability to exercise authority] over all the power of the enemy (Satan); and nothing will [in any way] harm you.
- “Satan will fight us more on this subject than anything else. Learn the truth about authority and dominate in the earth.” —
- When we understand faith, the impossible becomes possible. Why? Faith has dominion over the laws of time, space, and matter.

- Luke 10:19 — “Behold, I give unto you power… and over all the power of the enemy”
- “Power” is used twice – But they are TWO different words
- Interpreted … “I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy.”
- He’s not talking about snakes –spiders … Jesus is talking about the power of … demons, evil spirits, etc. and how to face the enemy fearlessly.
- You have authority over them, every devil and every disease and disaster satan brings.
- God Himself is the power behind our authority

- Satan has no right to dominate or rule us — yet the average Christian has had more faith in satan’s authority and power than God’s, thinking we will have spiritual authority sometime in the future…as the song goes, “When we all get to heaven.”
- Mk. 4:35-41 Jesus took authority over the storm…spoke to the Wind (unseen) first, taking authority over the spirit behind the wind that was driving this deadly storm…
