Step Up & Step Out
Hebrews 11:1 /Hebrews 11:6
I. INTRODUCTION
II. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES
A. Abraham Leaves His Hometown
Genesis 12:1-3
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country,
From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
B. Peter Steps Out On The Water
Matthew 14:28-33
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”
III. GOD’S WORD OFTEN PUSHES US OUTSIDE OF OUR COMFORT ZONE
A. The Eagle
Deuteronomy 32:11
There Is a Season to Be in The Nest
There Is a Stirring of The Nest
B. Jonah
We Run from Responsibility
Jonah 4:1-4
But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he became angry. 2 So he prayed to the Lord, and said, “Ah, Lord, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You are a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm. 3 Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live!”4 Then the Lord said, “Is it right for you to be angry?”
We Revert to Our Routine
We Ruin Relationships
IV. FAITH OVER FEAR
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
V. FOCUS OVER FRUSTRATION
Philippians 3:14
I press toward the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Press through mistakes, lack of resources, and tears don’t let the distraction frustrate you
VI. FORTITUDE OVER FAINTING
VII. FINISHING OVER FAILURE
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
What is God calling you to do. What is he pushing you to do?
VII. DON’T BE AFRAID GOD IS WITH YOU
Joshua 1:1-6
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
It’s your time to get it you’re more than qualified. It has to happen. Step up and step out. If God showed it to you it will come to pass. We can revert back or trust God for the new space.
