God with Us – Moses

Isaiah 7:14 NASB20 – “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will name Him Immanuel. (which means, God with us)”

Exodus 3:1-5 NASB20 – Now Moses was pasturing the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not being consumed. So Moses said, “I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”

Moses knew of the Egyptian gods.

Moses met the one God what was with him.

The Process of the Revelation of God with Us

1. : God reveals himself in order to get our attention and invite us into relationship.

Exodus 3:2 NASB20 – Then the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not being consumed.

Psalm 139:17-18 NLT – How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

2. : We must make the decision to turn aside and see what God is doing.

Exodus 3:3 NASB20 – So Moses said, “I must turn aside and see this marvelous sight, why the bush is not burning up!”

3. : When God sees our response to him, he speaks.

Exodus 3:4 NASB20 – When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

4. : We respond with, “here I am!”

Exodus 3:4 NASB20 – When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

How is God revealing himself to me now? Am I responding to him?

Exodus 3:10-12 NASB20 – “And now come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” And He said, “Assuredly I will be with you…

God is inviting us to him better and to his words.
