The Book of Romans Part 3 – A New Way

P. Jason Hubbard

Even when we are unfaithful, God remains .

Romans 3:3-4 NLT – True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful? Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him, “You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”

2 Timothy 2:13 NLT – If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.

Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT – The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

Hebrews 13:8 NLT – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

“We are not saved by the

Romans 3:20 NLT – For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.

1. The Law shows us how we are. (v. 19)

2. The Law shows that the entire world is before God. (v. 19)

3. The Law keeps us from . (v. 20)

…but by in the one who fulfilled the law.”

Romans 3:21 NLT – But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.

1. The new way shows the law through Jesus.

2. The new way shows God’s redemptive plan through .

3. The new way shows that salvation has always been about .

Romans 3:22 NLT – We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

Hebrews 11:6 NLT – And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Romans 3:23-26 NLT – For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

A. Our life of faith begins with a of faith in Jesus.

Romans 3:27-28 NLT – Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith. So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.

B. A moment of faith leads to a of faith.

James 2:26 NLT – Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

Philippians 2:12 NLT – Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.

Romans 3:27 NLT – Can we boast, then, that we have done anything to be accepted by God? No, because our acquittal is not based on obeying the law. It is based on faith.

C. Our life of faith is of moments of faith.
