Jesus Paid It All – Easter Sunday 2023

Romans 3:23 CSB – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

We are sinners not because we sin but we sin because we are sinners.

Romans 6:23 CSB – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 CSB – But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 4:10 CSB – Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

we ever love God, he loved us.

Romans 1:1-7 CSB – Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God — which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures — concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh and was appointed to be the powerful Son of God according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection of the dead. Through him we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the Gentiles, including you who are also called by Jesus Christ. To all who are in Rome, loved by God, called as saints. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

1. Salvation through Jesus was planned from the of time.

1 Peter 1:18-20 NLT – For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in these last days.

2. Faith in Jesus and what he did on the cross is the way that we can be saved.

John 14:6 CSB – Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Acts 4:12 CSB – “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.” 

3. Through Jesus, you are given a life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!

Hebrews 8:12 CSB – For I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins.

4. We are in need of the grace of God and the power of the cross.

Ephesians 2:1-10 CSB – And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously lived according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift ​– ​ not from works, so that no one can boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

Romans 3:10 CSB – as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one.

5. Jesus is you.

Romans 10:9 CSB – If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
