Gather at the Table – You Have a Place at the Table

P. Jason Hubbard

1. The table is a place to be and .

We want our church to feel comfortable enough to share how we are truly doing. Sharing moments of failure, frustration, and even spiritual doubt. We are not creating an atmosphere of judgment but an atmosphere of freedom and transparency. God cannot heal what we hide.

2. The table represents the of the home.

3. The table is for the .

We are a spiritually hungry church! We are passionate about Jesus and His Spirit is active in our lives. We want God to work in our hearts and we know we can’t live this life of faith without Him. We are not satisfied with where we are, we know there is more in God.

Matthew 5:6 CSB – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Mark 2:13-17 NLT – Then Jesus went out to the lakeshore again and taught the crowds that were coming to him. As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at his tax collector’s booth. “Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Levi got up and followed him. Later, Levi invited Jesus and his disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. (There were many people of this kind among Jesus’ followers.) But when the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees saw him eating with tax collectors and other sinners, they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with such scum?” When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor–sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

Romans 8:1 CSB – Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus,

Luke 7:47-50 CSB – “Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little.” Then he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” Those who were at the table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins?” And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

5. We the community of the table.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT – A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.
