Responding to the Vision Part 1 — Be Before Do
November 13, 2022Responding to the Vision Part 1 – Be Before Do
P. Jason Hubbard
1. BEFORE GOD CALLS US TO ANYTHING, HE FIRST CALLS US TO WITH HIM.
Mark 6:30 CSB – The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a remote place and rest for a while.”
2. WHEN WE “DO” WITHOUT FIRST “BEING”, WE FUNCTION FROM A PLACE OF .
Matthew 6:1 CSB – “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward with your Father in heaven.”
“Poieō” means: performance, behavior, making oneself out to be, to manufacture.
3. JESUS INVITES US TO WITH HIM, , AND FIND OUR IN HIM.
Matthew 11:28-30 MSG – “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”
4. IS THE KEY TO FINDING STRENGTH.
2 Corinthians 12:6-10 NLT – If I wanted to boast, I would be no fool in doing so, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message, even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
True life is found in with Jesus, my strength, my weakness, and his power.
