SUMMER TOGETHER | PART 1 – BETTER TOGETHER

P. Jason Hubbard

Acts 2:46-47 CSB – 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

Genesis 2:18 CSB – 18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper corresponding to him.”

GOD IS .

Genesis 1:1 CSB – 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

FATHER

John 15:9 CSB – 9 “As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you. Remain in my love.”

SON

John 1:1-2, 14 CSB – 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. … 14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

HOLY SPIRIT

Proverbs 8:27-31 CSB – 27 “I was there when he established the heavens, when he laid out the horizon on the surface of the ocean, 28 when he placed the skies above, when the fountains of the ocean gushed out, 29 when he set a limit for the sea so that the waters would not violate his command, when he laid out the foundations of the earth. 30 I was a skilled craftsman beside him. I was his delight every day, always rejoicing before him. 31 I was rejoicing in his inhabited world, delighting in the children of Adam.”

WE ARE CREATED RELATIONSHIP, RELATIONSHIP.

How and why did God create us? “God created us male and female in his own image to know him, love him, live with him, and glorify him. And it is right that we who were created by God should live to his glory.” – New City Catechism

Luke 6:12-19 CSB – 12 During those days he went out to the mountain to pray and spent all night in prayer to God. 13 When daylight came, he summoned his disciples, and he chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: 14 Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; James and John; Philip and Bartholomew; 15 Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called the Zealot; 16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. 17 After coming down with them, he stood on a level place with a large crowd of his disciples and a great number of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon. 18 They came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and those tormented by unclean spirits were made well. 19 The whole crowd was trying to touch him, because power was coming out from him and healing them all.

JESUS’ LIFE INCLUDED RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE , AND THE .

Three distinctive types of relationships:

  1. Relationship with .
  2. Relationship with the .
  3. Relationship with the .

BENEFITS OF KINGDOM RELATIONSHIPS:

1. RECEIVING & GIVING .

1 John 4:10-12 CSB – 10 Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made complete in us.

2. .

1 Thessalonians 5:11 CSB – 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up as you are already doing.

3. .

Proverbs 27:17 CSB – 17 Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another.

4. .

Proverbs 17:22 CSB – 22 A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.

5. .

Romans 12:15 CSB – 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.

1 Corinthians 12:26 CSB – 26 So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

6. .

Acts 4:32-35 CSB – 32 Now the entire group of those who believed were of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but instead they held everything in common. 33 With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them. 34 For there was not a needy person among them because all those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the proceeds of what was sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet. This was then distributed to each person as any had need.

7. .

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 CSB – 9 Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their efforts. 10 For if either falls, his companion can lift him up; but pity the one who falls without another to lift him up. 11 Also, if two lie down together, they can keep warm; but how can one person alone keep warm? 12 And if someone overpowers one person, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

8. .

Remember two things: the salvation of Christ, the faithfulness of God.

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 CSB – 6 “These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Deuteronomy 6:10-12 CSB – 10 “When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that he would give you – a land with large and beautiful cities that you did not build, 11 houses full of every good thing that you did not fill them with, cisterns that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant – and when you eat and are satisfied, 12 be careful not to forget the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the place of slavery.”

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 CSB – 23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: On the night when he was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
