VOICE OF A SHEPHERD | PART 4 – LIVING THE HD LIFE

P. Danny Schulz

John 5:19 (ESV) So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.“I don’t want to ask God to bless what I’m doing.  I want to do what God is blessing.”

WHY IS HEARING THE VOICE OF THE SHEPHERD SO IMPORTANT?

1.  The core distinctive of a follower of Jesus is God’s voice and it.

John 10 2-5, 14 (ESV)  “But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers…  I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me.”John 8:47 (ESV)  Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:14 (ESV) The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.1 Corinthians 2:16 (ESV) For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 2.  The Primary way we discern the voice of God to us is through

Acts 8:29 (ESV) And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.”

Acts 13:2 (ESV) While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Hebrew 3:7-8 (ESV) Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”

Revelation 2:7 (ESV) He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.“The scriptures are the only inspired and infallible divine revelation ever given to man and are the supreme authority in all matters of faith and morals.” – Kevin J. Conner, Foundations of Christian Doctrine Logos – The word

Rhema – The word

Romans 10:17 (ESV) So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

“Read the Logos until you get a Rhema.”Matthew 4:4 (ESV) “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” Psalm 119:18 (ESV) Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

3.  The most significant Christian discipline that will cause a Christian to grow in Christ is regular Bible and .  Psalm 119:11 (ESV) I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Joshua 1:8 (ESV) This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.“Of all the spiritual practices – prayer, confession, tithing, journaling, solitude, serving or worship we find that one stands out: scripture reflection, more than any other practice, moves people forward in their love for God and love for others.” – Parkinson and Hawkins Hebrews 4:12 (ESV) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV) All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

4.  When you combine regular Bible with Bible (HD) you tap into a powerful combination that sets your life on an amazing course.Luke 11:28 (ESV) “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

James 1:22-24 (ESV) But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

Matthew 7:24-27 (ESV) “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.  And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Galatians 5:25 (ESV) If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. – chronological time

– the opportune moment

“Move through Chronos until you experience a Kairos.”
