SERMON: Timothy: The Speaking Gifts

TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:6-16

Communicating with the body of Christ is a unique skill set. Paul writes that there are various speaking gifts including: teaching, prophesying, sharing wisdom and gifts of tongues. Paul instructs Timothy in how to ground himself in the truths of Christ and how to share those truths with boldness and clarity.

Accept the Call

Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 1 Timothy 4:14

Speak with Your Life First

Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 1 Timothy 6:20

How to Deal with Inferiority

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, 1 Timothy 4:12a

Honor the Timothy’s in Your Midst

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. 1 Timothy 5:17
