TITLE: Being Rich in the Kingdom of Heaven

The Bible says to “store your treasures in heaven” (Matt 6:20), but what does that really mean? Rather than imagining a deposit box somewhere in the clouds that we’ll open after we die, we’ll talk about how storing treasures in heaven is something we can do every day—and that as we put our treasures in heaven, we experience the peace that comes from knowing we don’t have to protect our investments. Our hearts and our resources become free to react generously when we live in God’s abundance.

SERMON NOTES

1. When we store our treasures in the world, we have to protect them. But when we look in the right direction, we see the abundance of heaven.
   

   2. When we invest in the Kingdom of Heaven, our return is peace. But it’s only as we put our faith into practice that we are formed with the spiritual character we need to keep the Kingdom of Heaven in our sights.
