We are called to Invite everyone, everywhere, into a transforming relationship with Jesus every day.
So Much Better: Every Thought Matters
May 18, 2025“When you’re all in on Jesus, every moment matters.”
Practice According to Jesus:
Obediently living out the will of the Father in daily life—hearing His words and putting them into action.
“What if the real war isn’t around you, but you?”
James 4:1 (NIV)
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?
Have you ever believed something that wasn’t true… but it still shaped how you lived?
Life doesn’t just happen at the behavioral level. It happens at the belief level.
“We become what we contemplate.” — A.W. Tozer
“The devil’s primary strategy is to drive the soul and society into ruin through deceptive ideas that play to disordered desires that are normalized in a sinful society.”-John Mark Comer
What you give your attention to… is the person you become.
DECEPTIVE
John 8:44 (NLT)…He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Every lie you believe becomes a mental map you live by. And every false map leads you further from —and from God
DISORDERED
The lies the enemy tells often resonate because they connect to something broken inside us.
SIN
When a lie is culturally , it becomes even more dangerous.
What are “mental maps”?
Your beliefs about how life, God, and people work.
If you believe things, you’ll live the wrong life— if you love Jesus.
Dallas Willard: “We live at the mercy of our ideas.”
What does a biblical mind map look like?
Romans 12:2 — “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Transformation doesn’t begin with . It starts with truth.
2 Corinthians 10:5 — “Take every thought captive…”
Don’t let your thoughts you. You lead your thoughts.
Philippians 4:8 — “Whatever is true… noble… right… pure… lovely… admirable… think on these things.”
Don’t feed your thoughts with . Feed them with truth.
1 Corinthians 2:16 — “We have the mind of Christ.”
If you are in Christ, you have to Jesus’ mental map of reality.
• Your thinking is your worship.
• To know God rightly is to think rightly.
• To think rightly is to live freely.
PRACTICES FOR RENEWING THE MIND
✅ 1. the Lie
Name it. Trace the source.
“I’m not enough.” → Truth: “In Christ, I have all I need.”
✅ 2. with Truth
2 Corinthians 10:5 — Take every thought captive.
Speak truth aloud—daily.
✅ 3. the Noise.
Curate Inputs.
Ask: “Who’s discipling my mind?”
Replace 30 minutes of scrolling with 10 minutes of Scripture.
✅ 4. Awe + Wonder
Don’t just learn about God—encounter Him.
Worship realigns your internal world.
✅ 5. Truth Formation

Philippians 4:4-8 (New Living Translation)
4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! 5 Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.
7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
Mark 12:30 — “Love the Lord your God with all your… mind.”
When you’re all in on Jesus, every matters.
