Here is my heart…
(WRITTEN IN 2008)

God desires a church with one purpose: to glorify Him from generation to generation.  A church united around that one desire and intention.  One who knows and is saturated with His love and longs for intimacy with Him. A church that longs to spend time in His presence, knowing that when we seek Him first, all things will be added. One that beats to the rhythm of His heart.  A church that meets their community’s spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. 

This takes a church that wants what He wants and puts their desires to the side to see His kingdom come. A church that knows He is big enough to make sure everyone gets fed, and there is always room at His table for more to come and eat.  God desires a church that lives and rests in how good He is.  A church that lives in confident dependence and obedience to Him.  One that is simple in all it does and organic in its approach to seeing new things started. Where the people live out fearlessly a calling and conviction to stand up for who they are in Christ and shine.  

They expect the unexpected because they are living in intimacy with their father, who chose them.  They are walking in the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ and have a new identity in Him.  The love of Christ has marked their lives, and what is theirs in Christ has been sealed by the Holy Spirit. They are led, filled, and amazed by the Holy Spirit, and they will follow wherever He leads. 

It is a church that cares about all people, no matter where they come from or what they come with.  One that is willing to give whatever it takes to see people’s lives changed.  His church doesn’t wait for them to come but meets them right where they are with His love. This is a church that goes first in Love.  This is a church that is completely consumed and changed by His PRESENCE! A church that lives in the love of God! This church takes the love of Jesus to everyone, everywhere, every day.
