What are you afraid of?
The Stuff That Shapes Our Identity
What stuff has shaped you?
Our
Our
Our identity is by what we believe to be true about the stuff.
Exodus 3:1:
“Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian.”
The that have shaped us.
“Most of us live in a false identity built on fear. We work hard to protect it, but it leaves us exhausted and disconnected from who God created us to be.”
Jamie Winship, Living Fearless
What does God have to about the stuff?
Exodus 3:10-11:
“So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?’”
Who am I?

(Jeremiah 31:3)
“You are chosen.”
(Ephesians 1:4-5)
“You are enough because I am enough.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
“The most important question you can ask God is, ‘What do You say about this?’ His voice will lead you out of fear and into freedom.”
Jamie Winship, Living Fearless
God, Who Do You Say I am?
Exodus 4:12:
“Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
“”When you understand who God says you are, fear loses its grip, and you’re free to live the life you were created for.”

Living out our identity In Christ
Stay in His Presence:
“If Your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” (Exodus 33:15)
Listen to His Voice All The Time:
“Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)
Walk in Confidence:
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.” (Romans 8:15)
“The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.” (Romans 8:15)
The Spirit of Adoption
Relationship with God:
The Spirit of Adoption signifies that believers are brought into an intimate relationship with God, where they can address Him as Abba, Father (Romans 8:15).
Heirship and Rights:
Adoption in the Greco-Roman world not only made someone part of a family but also granted them inheritance rights. This is echoed in passages like Romans 8:17, where believers are described as “heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.”
Transformative Work of the Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is depicted as the agent who confirms and assures this new status, enabling believers to live as God’s children.
