No, No, No, & No! – The Spirit of Rejection

August 25, 2024 / C.J. Clymer

Understanding the Spirit of Rejection:

The spirit of rejection is a demonic influence that distorts a person’s perception of their worth and identity, leading them to believe they are unloved, unwanted, or unworthy of acceptance. It often takes root through painful experiences such as abandonment, betrayal, criticism, or neglect, causing individuals to internalize feelings of inadequacy and fear of rejection. This spirit influences thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, driving a person to seek validation from others, isolate themselves, or engage in self-sabotage to avoid further rejection. Ultimately, the spirit of rejection aims to disconnect individuals from their true identity in Christ and from healthy, life-giving relationships.

Signs of the Spirit of Rejection:

Low Self-Esteem
Psalm 139:14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Fear of Rejection
Proverbs 29:25, “The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”

People-Pleasing
Galatians 1:10, “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Enabling
John 12:43: “For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.”

Proverbs 27:5-6: “Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”

Isolation
Hebrews 10:25, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Defensiveness and Anger
Ephesians 4:26-27, “In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”

Self-Sabotage
John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Approval Addiction
1 Thessalonians 2:4, “But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.”

Negative Self-Talk
Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Difficulty Trusting Others
Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Perfectionism
Matthew 5:48, “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

Jesus’ Encounter with Spirit of Rejection

John 1:11, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.”

Do not let rejection you!

Jesus’ Encounter with Acceptance

Matthew 3:17, after Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened, and the voice of the Father declared, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

If we follow the way of Jesus, we have to to live as beloved.

There is power in living as His beloved

Ephesians 1:4-6 (NCV)4 That is, in Christ, he chose us before the world was made so that we would be his holy people—people without blame before him. 5 Because of his love, God had already decided to make us his own children through Jesus Christ. That was what he wanted and what pleased him, 6 and it brings praise to God because of his wonderful grace. God gave that grace to us freely, in Christ, the One he loves.

Our identity is not determined by the of others but by the and love of God.

How do we break free from the spirit of rejection?

Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

the Wound

Psalm 147:3, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Lies with Truth

Psalm 139:14 (NCV) I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way.    What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.

Jeremiah 31:3a (NCV) “I love you people with a love that will last forever.

and Release

Matthew 6:14-15 (NIV)14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Ephesians 4:31-32“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

Your Identity as His Beloved

Romans 8:15-16 “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.”

Today is your day to walk in freedom!

Remember, the spirit of rejection wants to rob you of and .

Galatians 4:7″ Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Rejection may have marked your , but it does not define your . You have been marked by love!

“The love of your heavenly Father is the most powerful force that overcomes the rejection of this world.”
-Rejection Exposed: Understand the Root and Fruit of Rejection,” Anthony Hulsebus

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I am a child of God, chosen and beloved.

• “For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love, He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will” (Ephesians 1:4-5).
• I reject the lie that I am unwanted or unloved. I stand firm in the truth that God has chosen me and calls me His beloved child.

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I am accepted in Christ.

• “To the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).

•I break every agreement with the spirit of rejection, renouncing the belief that I am unworthy of love. I declare that I am accepted in Christ and nothing can separate me from His love.

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I forgive those who have rejected me.

• “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).

• I release all bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness towards those who have hurt me. I choose to forgive as Christ has forgiven me, freeing my heart from the wounds of rejection.

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I break every stronghold of rejection in Jesus’ name.

• “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

• In the name of Jesus, I tear down every stronghold of rejection that has taken root in my heart and mind. I declare that the enemy no longer has any power or authority over me in this area.

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I replace the lies of rejection with God’s truth.

• “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).

• I reject every lie that says I am not good enough, unloved, or unworthy. Instead, I receive God’s truth: I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), I am loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3), and I am more than a conqueror through Christ (Romans 8:37).

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I receive God’s healing and restoration.

• “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).

• I invite the Holy Spirit to heal every place in my heart that has been wounded by rejection. I receive His restoration and declare that I am made whole in Christ.

In the name of Jesus, I declare:

I will walk in the freedom and authority of my identity in Christ.

• “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

• I declare that I am no longer a slave to the spirit of rejection. I am free, and I will walk in the authority and confidence of my identity as a beloved child of God.

In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
