The Heart of God: A Heart After God’s Own Heart

“After removing Saul, He made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do’” (Acts 13:22)

  1. Your Heart

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Prov. 4:23)

“And He said to them, ‘Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?’ And he said, ‘what comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.’” (Mark 7:18-23)

A Heart – a heart that has checked out.

B Heart – a heart that has been wounded & hurt.

Heart – a heart that withholds love

Heart – a heart torn & teetering between the Lord & the World.

E Heart – a hateful heart bent on evil & lies

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Prov. 22:6)

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” (Ps. 51:10)

“I do not understand what I do. What I want to do, I do not do. What I hate, I do.” (Rom. 7:15)

How does God change our heart?

  • Through His Word
  • Through Prayer
  • In Life Groups
  • Attend Life Change
  • Spiritual Counseling
  1. Your Heart

“And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” (1 John 4:21)

“The whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Gal. 5:14)

“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.” (Luke 6:32-33)

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb. 13:8 NIV)
