“Commissioned to Disciple”

What is Discipleship?

Μαθητής = mathētēs = “a learner, a student, a follower”

To Be a Disciple of Jesus = To , , and Jesus

Discipleship = in and More

“Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to Him those He wanted, and they came to Him. He appointed twelve that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.” (Mark 3:13-14 NIV)

“Then He said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will save it.’”

(Luke 9:23-24 NIV)

Why Should I Respond to His Invitation?

Reason #1: I am .

“I am your Creator. You were in My care even before you were born. Israel, don’t be terrified! You are My chosen servant, My very favorite.” (Isa. 44:2 CEV)

Reason #2: I have a .

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10 NIV)

“Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors and his body decayed.” (Acts 13:36 NIV)
