“You’re Not Done Yet”

“So, when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe, the ornate robe he was wearing, and they took him and threw him into the cistern. So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled

Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.”

(Gen. 37:23-24,28)

“Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an

Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there. The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did.” (Gen. 39:1-3)

“So Potiphar left everything he had in Joseph’s care; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, ʻCome to bed with me!’ But he refused. ʻWith me in charge,’ he told her, ʻmy master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this

house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?’” (Gen. 39:6-9)

“One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and

none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, ʻCome to bed with me!’ But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house. She kept his cloak beside her until his master came home.” (Gen. 39:11-12, 16)

“Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the kingʻs prisoners were confined.” (Gen. 39:20-21)

“He (Pharaoh) restored the chief cupbearer to his position, so

that he once again put the cup into Pharaoh’s hand, but he impaled the chief baker, just as Joseph had said to them in his interpretation. The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.” (Gen. 40:21-23)

“But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; He showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.” (Gen. 39:21)

“Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this

known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.’” (Gen. 41:39-40)

“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” (Gen. 50:20)
