Grounded in the Next Generation

March 15, 2023 / Pastor Pua Palekiko

“My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old – things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us. We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, His power, and the wonders He has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which He commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget His deeds but would keep His commands. They would not be like their ancestors, a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to Him.” (Ps. 78:1-8)

New Hope Core Value We believe in identifying and training emerging leaders who are fully committed to Christ and who will reach their generation with the Gospel.

3 responsibilities God calls us to invest into the fertile ground of the next generation….

1. We the next generation by living as an example after Christ. “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” (1 Cor. 11:1)

2. We the next generation to show who the blesser is. “And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, He was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.’ And He took them in His arms and blessed them, laying His hands on them.” (Mark 10:13-16)

3. We the next generation hearts when valleys are deep. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Josh. 1:9)
