The Unfinished Work of You- 5 Insights Into Your Assignment

December 31, 2022 / Pastor Scott Hogle

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which He prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10)

  1. GOD’s HEART TO BECOME MY HEART!

“When I heard these words, I sat down and wept and mourned for days; and I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.” (Neh. 1:4)

What is your assignment in-season?

  1. A PAIN POINT THE ASSIGNMENT.

“So the king said to me, ‘Why is your face sad though you are not sick? This is nothing but sadness of heart.’ Then I was very much afraid. I said to the king, ‘Let the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?’” (Neh. 2:2-3)

How might God use troubling circumstances to advance your assignment?

  1. THE ASKING = GOD’S OPEN DOOR.

“Then the king said to me, ‘What would you request?’ So I prayed

to the God of heaven. I said to the king, ‘If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor before you, send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may rebuild it.’” (Neh. 2:4-5)

How can you prepare for your opportune moment?

  1. GOD’S FAVOR UNLOCKS PROVISION FOR THE VISION.

“’If it please the King, let letters of authority be given to me for governors and providences… and for Asaph keeper of the king’s forest for timber…And the king granted them to me because the ….Now the king had sent with me officers of the army and horsemen’.” (Neh. 2:7-9)

In what areas would you like to experience God’s favor?

  1. PRAYER REVEALS GOD’S SECRET

“So I came to Jerusalem and was there three days. And I arose in  the night, I and a few men with me. I did not tell anyone what my  God was putting into my mind to do for Jerusalem. The officials did  not know where I had gone or what I had done; nor had I as yet  told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials or the rest who  did the work.” (Neh. 2:11-12+16)

What might you need a strategy for, that God could reveal in prayer?
