“From Death to Destiny”

April 17, 2022 / Pastor Paul Brown, Pastor Ty Tamasaka, Pastor John Tilton

  1. Sin is , but God is.

“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom. 3:23)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23)

“There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb,

rolled back the stone and sat on it.” (Matt. 28:2)

  1. Easter is not about your passionate of God.  It is about God’s passionate of you.

“When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?’”

(1 Cor. 15:54-55)

3. True Love Through Pain.

“Then Pilate took Jesus and had Him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head. They clothed Him in a purple robe and went up to Him again and again, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ And they slapped Him in the face.” (John 19:1-3)

“When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took His clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. ‘Let’s not tear it,’ they said to one another. ‘Let’s decide by lot who will get it.’ This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, ‘They divided My clothes among them and cast lots for My garment.’”

(John 19:23-24)

“Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When He had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.”

(John 19:28-30)
