The Good Shepherd | Psalm 23:5

Psalm 23:1-5The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

Humanity was God’s people.

Humanity was in the presence of God.

Humanity was in the place God created for them.

We are God’s people.

God has prepared a place for us.

already adopted in Christ (Romans 8:15), but not yet adopted (Romans 8:23)

already redeemed in Christ (Ephesians 1:7), but not yet redeemed (Ephesians 4:30)

already sanctified in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2), but not yet sanctified (1 Thessalonians 5:23–24)

already raised with Christ (Ephesians 2:6), but not yet raised (1 Corinthians 15:52)

We need to stay close to our shepherd.

We stay close to our shepherd when we submit to him.
