ACTS | Here’s Water

Isaiah 42:1-9
Isaiah 49:1-13
Isaiah 50:4-9
Isaiah 52:13-53:12

Isaiah 53:7-8 “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.8By oppression53:8 Or From arrest and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.”

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 8:4-8 “Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. 5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all
paid close attention to what he said. 7 With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and
cripples were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city.”

Acts 4:27-35 “Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. 28 They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. 30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. The Believers Share Their Possessions32All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.”

God led + Philip followed = God used Philip

God leads + YOU follow = God uses YOU

Start with questions, not statements.

Acts 8:36-40 “As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why
shouldn’t I be baptized?”37 * 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went
down into the water and Philip baptized him.39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord
suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.40 Philip,
however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached
Caesarea.”

1 Peter 3:5 “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

When you’re ready to follow God’s call:

Be bold.

Be patient.
