More Than – Sermon Two | Generosity Makes a Difference | 2 Corinthians 9:6-15

Pay It Forward
Key Point: Generosity makes a significant impact.

2 Corinthians 8:10b-11 “Last year you were the first not only to give but also to have the desire to do so. 11 Now finish the work, so that your eager willingness to do it may be matched by your completion of it, according to your means.”

Key Point: Generosity makes a significant impact.
4 Ways Generosity Makes a Significant Impact:

1. Your generosity will profoundly affect your life.

2 Corinthians 9:6 “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all…

2 Corinthians 9:7 “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

4 Practical Ways to Sow Generously

1. Give what you decided in your heart to give.

2. Don’t Give reluctantly.

3. Don’t Give under compulsion.

4. Give cheerfully.

2. God works through our generosity. (9:8-12)

2 Corinthians 9:8-9 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.”

Psalm 112:9 “They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever” (NLT).

2 Corinthians 9:10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

Your Supply: God will increase what you start with.

God will enlarge what you finish with.

2 Corinthians 9:11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

3. God blesses us so we can bless others.

2 Corinthians 9:11a “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion”

God enriches us for two reasons:
A. We’re enriched to “be generous.”
B. We’re enriched to “be generous on every occasion.”

2 Corinthians 9:11b “so that many will thank God for your gifts which they receive from us” (GNT).

2 Corinthians 9:12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.”

4. Our generosity motivates others to glorify God.

2 Corinthians 9:13-14 “Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. 14 And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.”

How Others Praise God because of You:

A. People will praise God for your obedience.

B. People will praise God for your Testimony about Jesus.

C. People will praise God for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

D. People will pray for you.

2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!”
