Small Group Questions

What do you think?

  1. What struck a chord with you from Sunday’s service?
  2. What thoughts and feelings come to mind when you think about the End Times (positive and negative)?

The story of your life.

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how frequently do you find yourself thinking about the End Times?
  2. Tell about a time when a crisis struck in your life and you either felt well prepared or poorly prepared. What lessons did you learn from that experience?

Digging deeper.

  1. Matthew 24 is arguably Jesus’ most exhaustive commentary on what to expect when the End Times are coming. Read it out loud as a group and then answer the following questions. Try to jot down the events in order as best as you can to relay them to the group.
    1. Have a few members of the group recap the story using their own words.
    2. What does this story tell us about God? People? You?
    3. Share an aspect that frightens you coupled with one that inspires you.
  2. Whether or not Jesus returns in our lifetimes, a great reward awaits everyone who entrusts their lives to God – Heaven. Revelation 21 gives us a glimpse into what the promised New Heaven and New Earth will look like. Read it together and share which aspects bring you the greatest hope.
  3. Revelation 22 shares more about the Heavenly City and what our current response should be as we await that glorious day. Read it together and share which aspect(s) bring you the greatest hope.
  4. Finally, the following verses provide additional insight into what Heaven will be like. Read them together and share any insights you find about what Heaven will be like or how we are supposed to live as we await that day.
    1. Isaiah 65:17-18.
    2. Matthew 6:19-21.
    3. Matthew 25:23.
    4. Acts 7:55-56.
    5. 2 Peter 3:11-18.

Personal reflection and application.

  1. Have everyone in the group share one thing (that someone else said) that resonated with them from this discussion.
  2. Take some time to pray for one another before closing the group.
