Small Group Questions

What do you think?

What struck a chord with you from City Church’s last service?

The story of your life.

  1. The title of Pastor Obie’s message was “Raising World Changers.” Share a time in your life when your world changed for the better because of someone else’s actions.
  2. One thing we looked at was how one’s perspective determines their perceived reality. Share about a time when you began to see something with a new understanding because you saw it from a different perspective.

Digging deeper.

  1. One of the lessons we learned from the mother of Moses is that she studied the heroes of the faith for what to do. Hebrews 11 offers a list of heroes from the Old Testament, often referred
to as the “Hall of Faith.” Read the chapter in its entirety and answer the following questions.

    1. Which “hero” stuck out to you the most?
    2. Have you ever been in a situation where you drew inspiration from a biblical figure’s story to get through yours? Please share your experience.
  2. Pastor Obie spoke about being secure in your identity in Christ. Read the verses below, then answer the following questions.
    1. John 8:36.
    2. Romans 8:31.
    3. John 1:12.
    4. John 15:16.
    5. 1 John 5:18.
    6. Colossians 2:10.
    7. Ephesians 2:10.
    8. 2 Corinthians 5:20.
    9. 1 Peter 2:9.
    10. Which verse resonated most with you most? Why?
    11. In the next week, how can you practically live that verse out better? Be specific.
  3. As Jesus followers, we are called to the “great commission” of making disciples. In a sense, we are therefore expected to be “world changers.” Though you may not change the entire world like Moses and his siblings did, you can still change the world of a small group or individual. In what practical way can you help make a positive impact, change or improvement in someone’s world this week?

Personal reflection and application.

  1. Have everyone in the group share one thing that resonated with them from this discussion.
  2. Take some time to pray for one another before closing the group.
