To develop the mind of Christ, you develop…
Selflessness: Lay aside your rights.
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped. Philippians 2:5-6
Submission:
Renounce your privileges.
But emptied Himself, taking the form of a bondservant. Philippians 2:7a
Accept your limited options.
And being made in the likeness of men. Philippians 2:7b
Accept your new identity.
And being found in appearance as a man, humbled Himself. Philippians 2:8a
Sacrifice: Realize your purpose.
By becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:8b
What?
Don’t miss Christ’s pattern.
- Christ temporarily emptied Himself of supernatural rights.
- Christ took on the limitations of humanity.
- Christ was made of human DNA.
- Christ humbled Himself by becoming obedient to an innocent death.
So What?
Paul called himself a servant more often than an apostle. Likewise, Christ lived to do God’s will. Do you treat people as fellow-servants or try to boss them?
Now What?
Where does your pride hinder your humble service?
