Christ’s Jerusalem Entry Was A Sign

 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ; so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit. With one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. Philippians 1:27

Pressure/Suffering is Christ like.

In no way alarmed by your opponents – which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.  Philippians 1:28

As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road.  As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, shouting “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”  Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.”  But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!” Luke 19:36-40

Pressure/Suffering has a dual explanation.

For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake. Philippians 1:29

Pressure/Suffering identifies you with greatness.

Experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

Philippians 1:30

So What?

By God’s grace I will conduct myself in a manner worthy of the gospel – specifically, I will help my local church stand firm and work together for the gospel. I will not fear opponents of the gospel but suffer whatever necessary for Christ’s sake as an evidence of my faith in Christ.
