Ready For Resistance

March 13, 2022 / Pastor Dennis Beatty / Acts 13:42-52

God’s plan for you is to know Christ and make His love known.
Your calling to witness involves blessings and bumps all along the way.

 The Blessings

 You gain respect

The Jews and God-fearing non-Jews followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, were urging them to continue in the grace of God. Acts 13:42-43

You experience results

The next Sabbath nearly the whole city assembled to hear the Word of God. Acts 13:44

The Bumps

 You endure ridicule

But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy, and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were blaspheming. Acts 13:45

You confront unreceptivity

Paul said, “You judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the non-Jew.” Acts 13:46-47

The Blessings

You exalt the Lord

And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed. Acts 13:48

You expand the church

And the word of the Lord was being spread through the whole region. Acts 13:49

The Bumps

You anger the religious establishment

But the Jews aroused the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city. Acts 13: 50a

You face unjust persecution

And instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district. Acts 13: 50b

The Blessings

You are filled with purpose

But they shook off the dust of their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium. Acts 13:51

You are filled with the Spirit

And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52
