The Value of Jesus’ Identity

November 14, 2021 / Pastor Dennis Beatty

Assuming the Bible is the Word of God, which verses of the Bible have the most important truths that determine your eternal destiny?

Jesus is the God

A virgin, shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23

In Greek, “with us the God.”

Jesus is the God

Thomas answered and said to him, my Lord and my God. John 20:28

In Greek, “The Lord of me and The God of me.”

Jesus is the God

But to the Son, God says Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever. Hebrews 1:8

In Greek, “Thy throne, The God, is forever and ever.”

Jesus is the God

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13

In Greek, “The great God and Savior of us, Christ Jesus.”

Jesus is the God

To them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:1

In Greek, “The God of us and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Jesus is “The God” and should be worshipped as such.

John, in Revelation 1:8, refers to Jesus as “The Almighty”!

May our hearts be humbled when we consider who Jesus really is.

Christ’s acceptance of worship as God

Worship reserved for God only. Luke 4:8; Matthew 4:10; Deuteronomy 6:13

Jesus received worship as God and accepted it.

Matthew 8:2 – Leper worshipped Him

John 9:35-39 – Man born blind, after being healed, worshipped Him

Matthew 14:33 – Disciples worshipped Him

Matthew 2:11 – Magi worshipped Him

Matthew 28:17 – Disciples worshipped Jesus

God commands angels to worship Christ – Hebrew 1:6,8
