The Value of Repentance

August 29, 2021 / Pastor Dennis Beatty / Luke 15:11-24

Although rebellion has many negative consequences, if you repent, you may recover from your sinning ways. Why? Because God is the God of second chances.

Your tailspin to the pigpen

Your rebellion

“A certain man had two sons; the younger said to his father, “Father, give me my share of the estate.” He divided his wealth between them. Not many days later, the younger son gathered everything and went on a journey into a distant country. There he squandered his estate with loose living.” Luke 15:1-13

Your results

“Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred, and he began to be in need. He went and attached himself to one of the citizens of that country. He sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he was longing to fill his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him.” Luke 15:14-16

Your take-off from the pigpen

Your return

He got up and came to his father, but while he was still a long way off, his father saw him, felt compassion for him, and ran to embrace him, and kissed him. The son said to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called a son.” But the father said to his slaves, “Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.” And they began to be merry. Luke 15: 17-24

What?

What have I squandered lately?

So What?

Even if God has forgiven me for throwing out/away something good, what price might I still have to pay?

Now What?

The Bible tells me that everything I do has consequences.
