Unfortunately the 12 disciples didn’t learn the lesson (about Christ’s power and identity) from feeding of the 5,000. Have we?
Expect challenges for greater faith
The day began to decline, and the twelve said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages, find lodging and get something to eat; for we are in a desolate place.” “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless perhaps we go and buy food for all these people.” (For there were about five thousand men.) Luke 9:12,13
Faith doesn’t preclude organization
He said to His disciples, “Have them recline to eat in groups of about fifty each.” They did so, and had them all recline. Luke 9:14,15
Faith means small actions count
He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and broke them, and kept giving them to the disciples to set before the multitude. They all ate and were satisfied; and that which was left over of the broken pieces was picked up, twelve baskets full. Luke 9:16,17
Faith needs a biblical result
It came about while He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them saying, “Who do the multitudes say that I am?” They Answered, “John the Baptist; but others say, Elijah; and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen again.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “The Christ of God.” Luke 9:18-20
WHAT?
God may ask us to do an impossible task (i.e. greater faith)
SO WHAT?
We will be able to do the impossible only if we first risk faith.
