There are four things the Old Testament teaches about the Messiah, and they only make sense because of the Trinity…

  1. He is a . (Gen. 3:14-15; Prov. 20:30; 22:5; John 8:44; Eph. 2:1-3;)

His humanity identifies Him with us.

His humanity serve the purpose of sacrifice.

  1. He is a . (Gen. 49:8-11; Num. 24:15-19; Deut. 18:15-19; I Sam. 2:10; II Sam. 7:12-13; Zech. 9:9; Matt. 2:2; 22:41-46; Luke 1:32; 9:35)

His authority will protect and provide for Israel.

His authority calls all men to repentance.

  1. He is . (Is. 7:14; 9:6; Jer. 23:6; Matt. 16:13-16; John 10:30-31)

His divinity serves the purpose of sinlessness.

  1. He will . (Gen. 3:15; Is. 53:10; Ps. 22:16: Zech. 12:10)

His sacrifice serves the purpose of redemption.
