Message #2: “Hell”
Luke 16:19-31
Scripture describes hell as a real place.
Nobody talks about hell more than Jesus. (Matt. 13:41-42; 18:9; 25:41; 23:33)
Scripture is clear: We are 2 parts: body and soul. (II Cor. 5:8)
Luke 16:19-31 is a story of two men and two options.
Hell is the wrath of God in effect. It is foolish to try to pit God’s attributes against one another. (John 3:36)
Questions about Hell:
What is hell like? (Matt. 25:41; Mark 9:48; II Thess. 1:5-9)
Is it possible for people, having denied God their entire lives, to have a second chance after death? (Heb. 9:27; Rev. 20:15; Lk. 16:27-31)
Why does God create people He knows will go to hell? (I Jn. 3:20; Is. 46:9-10a; 66:15, 18b, 19; Matt. 25:41)
Is hell temporary or do the souls of the damned get destroyed? (Matt. 10:28)
If hell is eternal and our earthly lives are temporary, doesn’t that mean the punishment doesn’t fit the crime? (Dan. 12:2; Rev. 20:10)
Will everyone who doesn’t know about Jesus go to hell? What about those who have never heard His name?
