In this text, Jesus gives us an effective pattern for prayer.

The first section focuses on God’s (vv. 9-10)

Accessibility through Jesus (v. 9b)

The greatness of His position (v. 9c; Jn. 4:23)

The accomplishment of His purpose (v. 10)

In a future sense

In a present sense

The second section focuses on our (vv. 11-15)

Ongoing provision for life (v. 11; James 4:2b)

Forgiveness of sin (v. 12b)

Ours (v. 12; I Jn. 1:8)

Others (vv. 12b; 14-15; Eph. 4:32; Heb. 12:15; Eph. 4:30)
