TAKE OFF

Psalm 1

To be assumes that you are approved by God. (Psalm 1:1)

Three things that the “blessed man” actively avoids:

  1. Refusing to in the counsel of the wicked implies that sin plays no part in guiding your decisions.
  2. Refusing to in the way of the sinners indicates that you find life in the Lord and are fully satisfied with Him.
  3. Refusing to in the seat of the scoffer demonstrates that you have a genuine belief in God, reverence for Him, and obedience toward Him.

Walking, Standing, and Sitting

Walking shows an with sin.

Standing shows an with the ways of sin.

Sitting shows an toward sin.

Things that the “blessed man” allows to permeate his life: (Psalm 1:2-3)

  • We should marvel at the beauty of God’s word, but it must be accompanied by obedience.
  • The “blessed person” has an unyielding affection for the entire —both and : Jesus.
  • Without the , we are lifeless and without hope. But with it, we can endure the most difficult of situations and have something to show for it.
  • Where God is, there is . Where He is not, there is only death, drought, and withering.

The psalmist’s description of the wicked:

is the husk of a grain, or kernel. (Psalm 1:4)

will personally thresh and winnow the grain from the chaff. (Psalm 1:5)

Commit to one:

  • Intentionally avoid sin.
  • Meditate on God’s Word.
  • Weigh the eternal ramifications of my current path.
