Genesis 10

Gen. 10 shows us the origin of nations. (Acts 17:26)

This text matters, because it demonstrates…

The with man is still man. (Gen. 9:20-23; Ex. 34:6-7)

God is over the nations. (Gen. 9:25-27)

HAM’S Descendants

• • • would not all be cursed (only the unrighteous Canaanites). (Gen. 10:6)
    • would settle much of Africa, Arabia, Asia, the Pacific Islands, Australia, and parts of the Americas. (Gen. 10:7-8; 13-16)

SHEM’S Descendants

• • • would include the chosen line for the Messiah. (Gen. 9:26)
    • would include Jews, certain Arab tribes, or those of Babylonian/ Persian/ Iranian descent, etc. (Gen. 10:21-25)

JAPHETH’S Descendants

• • • would historically embrace the Jewish Messiah. (Gen. 9:27; John 4:22; Rom. 1:16; Gen. 22:18)
    • would settle much of Europe, the British Isles, Scandinavia, Russia, Greece, Turkey, and as far as India. (Gen. 10:2-4)

Our only true comes from God’s Word. (Gen. 10:5)
