Message #13: “Spirit-Filled in the Workplace”

Ephesians 6:5-9

 

The modern context closest to what Paul is describing is the employer/employee relationship.

Paul’s instructions to the Christian employee:

Spirit-filled employees are characterized by obedience to their boss. (v.5a)

Four attitudes by which Christian employees obey authorities in the workplace:

  4. . (v.8)

 

Paul’s instructions to the Christian employer:

Spirit-filled employers are characterized by obedience to God.

Four attitudes by which Christian employees obey God in the workplace:

  1. Hold to the same relational as the employee. (v.9a)
  2. Though you’re in charge, have the mindset of a . (Matt. 20:27)
  3. Authority isn’t to be (v.9b)
  4. See people the way sees them. (v.9c)

    The divine order seen in the workplace:

    • Submissive servants who are respectful, genuine, and kind, and who understand their true reward is in heaven…
    • Authorities who rightly respond to their employees, seeking to serve and never abuse them, and who see all people as valuable in God’s sight.
