Indulge and buy whatever you want right now? Buy now, pay later? Save for future if you can find the money? Give if anything is left over? Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth because they deteriorate and depreciate (6:19-20). Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth because they are vulnerable to theft and loss (6:19-20). Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth because they often make you insensitive to the needs of others. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth because they often make you proud. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth because you will leave them behind when you die. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth because they cannot satisfy your soul (Eccl. & Matt. 16:26). Reconstructing treasures Work hard to serve God, our families, and society. Give back to the Lord and His church first. Wisely plan your spending. Giving Jesus’ Way Giving back to God who owns it Giving back to God as His stewards Giving back to God as circulating His resources to His causes Giving back to God as glorifying God Giving back to God as blessing others Giving back to God authentically Giving back to God forgetfully Giving back to God our first Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven because they really matter. “Christ’s primary argument against amassing material wealth isn’t that it’s morally wrong, but that it’s a poor investment. It’s not wrong to invest. Just don’t make stupid investments, make smart ones by treasuring His kingdom.” Randy Alcorn Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven because they last. Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven because they appreciate. Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven because they multiply. Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven because they value Jesus and His kingdom.
