FREEDOM

FREEDOM

Galatians 5:13

Pastor David Barnes

Freedom, Independence, Liberty:

refers to an absence of undue restrictions and an opportunity to exercise one’s rights and powers.

This week we Celebrate 250 years as a nation! We celebrate Freedom!

Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

Christian Freedom

1. Called to Freedom

“For you were called to freedom, brethren…”

Freedom is not something we achieve; it is something we receive through Christ.

2. Freedom Can Be Misused

“Only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh…”

Freedom without responsibility leads to bondage.

3. Freedom’s Highest Expression is Serving Others

“But through love serve one another.”

The freest people are often the most servant-hearted people.

Just as Christ freely gave Himself for us, we are called to use our freedom to build up, encourage, and serve one another in love.
