We The Church – A People Of Commitment
August 30, 2026 / Pastor Jimmy HargroveChurch – ekklēsia –
Matthew 16:18 (ESV)
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
We the church, those called out of darkness into glorious light by the richness of the grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord, declare that we commit ourselves to the Holy scriptures, to live and abide by what they say and to the assembly of Christs redeemed. We commit to worship the one true God and creator of all in spirit and in truth. to live under the governance of the King of the universe and live in accordance with His righteous law.
We uphold His law of love which is extended to all people from all nations and all walks of life. To love the hurting, the broken, the sick, the impoverished, the oppressed, the enslaved, the abused, the confused, the fearful, and the hateful. We serve, bless, and pray for all alike as our Lord Jesus Christ has commanded.
We uphold His righteous standards set forth is His Holy Word and live according to such. We speak out for truth, justice, and righteousness and seek the establishment of such here on this earth as it is in Heaven.
We commit ourselves to war in the spirit, by prayer and worship, against anything that sets itself up against the standard of God. We war against the rulers, the authorities, the world forces of darkness and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenlies even against the gates of hell itself, whose gates will not prevail against the Church. We enact Gods righteousness here on the earth by the power of The Holy Spirit who lives in us.
Finally, We the church declare, we prepare the way for the return of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ our Risen Lord and Savior, The Lamb who was slain who is seated on the throne of Glory, the Lion of the tribe of Judah the one who was and is and is to come, the eternal, the immutable, the omniscient, the omnipotent, the Great I Am!
We the Church those called out of darkness into glorious light by the richness of the grace of God through Jesus Christ our Lord,
1 peter 2:9 (ESV)
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
We commit ourselves to
- The Holy Scriptures to live and abide by what they say
2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
Matthew 7:24–27 (ESV)
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
- To the assembly of Christ’s redeemed,
Acts 2:42 (ESV)
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers
Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
- To worship the one true God and creator of all in spirit and in truth.
John 4:23 (ESV)
23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
- To live under the governance of the King of the universe and live in accordance with His righteous law.
Mark 12:30 (ESV)
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
2 Corinthians 5:14–15 (ESV)
“For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.”
Romans 6:6–11 (ESV)
“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
